What an NMLS number means
Every mortgage company and every individual loan originator in the United States is registered with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). The NMLS number is a permanent ID that lets you look up who you are working with. Where Voyage is licensed
Voyage Home Loans is licensed to originate residential mortgage loans in Wisconsin and Iowa. We can only take applications for properties located in states where we hold a license. If you are buying or refinancing outside those states, we will tell you up front rather than start a file we cannot complete.
What it means to work with a licensed broker
As an independent mortgage broker, Voyage does not lend its own money. We compare loan options from multiple wholesale lenders and help you choose the one that fits your goals. Licensed loan originators complete pre-licensing education, pass a national exam, meet state requirements, and complete continuing education each year. Federal rules also require that you receive a Loan Estimate within three business days of applying and a Closing Disclosure before closing, so you can review your terms in writing.
